WASC Visiting Committee: AIS Shares the LOVE!
“The AIS community truly understands, lives and breathes its core values of Knowledge, Justice and Love.”
– WASC Visiting Committee Report, November 2020

Concluding a process that began in the fall of 2018, AIS recently welcomed a team of visiting educators for a virtual accreditation review. Though they couldn’t join us in person, the Visiting Committee members were able to meet with teachers, students, parents, and staff; visit Zoom and on-campus classes; and view virtual and video tours of the campus. Their number one observation? AIS lives and breathes LOVE!
“Throughout the visit, the VC was impressed with the ability of all stakeholders to discuss, articulate and provide evidence to support their understanding of the school’s Core Values, of Justice, Knowledge and, in particular, Love.”
WASC, or the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, is an international accrediting body that encourages school improvement through a process of continuing evaluation and recognizes institutions through granting accreditation to the schools that meet an acceptable level of quality in accordance with the established criteria. Accreditation ensures that the education students receive at AIS is recognized and accepted by other schools around the world.
Schools that pursue accreditation go through a rigorous self-study process in which every aspect of the organization is analyzed and evaluated, including school organization; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; support for student personal and academic growth; and the school culture and environment. AIS has been continuously accredited for over 30 years!

“Teachers and staff across divisions work collaboratively, with dedication and determination, to support students in all facets of development.”
“Students perceive school as a positive experience, and parents express satisfaction with the school environment and communication.”
We’re very pleased to report that the visit was a positive one, with lots of great feedback that confirms the strength of our community and the programs that we offer, and gives us clear goals for moving forward in improving our school. We have every confidence that AIS will once again receive full accreditation status.
The full text of the Visiting Committee’s report will be available to all members of the school community once our accreditation status is confirmed in the spring. But in the meantime, thanks to everyone who helped make this experience such a success. And thanks to our entire school community for showing so clearly that AIS shares the love!
