Once again our High School students left the comforts of home and ventured into the world for their Outdoor Education & Leadership Program (OELP) Service in Action Week! This year we had 7 programs outside of Hong Kong and 1 Hong Kong based program for students to enjoy!
Students had the opportunity to visit Service in Action favourites such as France, Australia, and Bali. In addition, this year we were delighted to add three new program options: Guizhou, Malaysia, and Mongolia!
Australia
In Australia, students focused on learning about Indigenous culture while contributing to conservation efforts to protect this environment after a recent history of natural disasters.
Bali
In Bali, students focused on supporting local efforts to protect and preserve the coral reefs that had been damaged through fishing activities.
Fiji
In Fiji, students worked with the local villagers to make improvements in their community.
France
In France students practised their language skills while taking in the culture and providing entertainment at a retirement residence.
Guizhou
In Guizhou, students assisted with farming tasks at a local Miao village and explored enchanting caves.
Malaysia
In Malaysia, students had the opportunity to connect with nature and experience the wonders of biodiversity.
Mongolia
In Mongolia, students experienced snow while learning more about the nomadic lifestyle of the Mongolian people.
Hong Kong
Our Hong Kong program was a day program focusing on Food & Housing Inequities in Hong Kong while also incorporating outdoor adventure experiences! We worked with Habitat for Humanity, Feeding Hong Kong, and Asia Pacific Adventures throughout the week to learn more about issues facing our community while exploring the natural beauty of Hong Kong.
