MS Literacy Week 2021

On 8-12 March 2021, the AIS Middle School celebrated Literacy Week in their Humanities classes!

To kick off the event on Monday, students played a Kahoot to guess which teacher was reading which book. The top three students of each class received House Points. Then students were given time to watch various book trailers and vote on their top choices for additions to Sora, our online library. The top 10-15 books with the highest number of votes were purchased and added to Sora. Students changed their Zoom backgrounds to their favorite books.

On Tuesday, students engaged in Digital Literacy Escape Rooms based on books. The Junior Cohort also created Blackout Poetry, while the Senior Cohort created Magnetic Poetry.

On Wednesday and Thursday, students created memes about reading or literacy. The best memes won prizes including more books. Then, students went to the library, checked out books for D.E.A.R., Drop Everything And Read.

Since AIS is well REaD, on Friday students wore RED and paid 20 HKD for the Moonlight Foundation Nepal. The Middle School was able to raise HKD 2,700 and the entire school raised a total of HKD 10,444.30.

Thank you to the Middle School Humanities Team for organizing all the wonderful activities, and the AIS PTA for their constant support of literacy and reading by donating funds to keep our library up to date.
