Young children learn best when they are able to use all of their senses. Our outdoor learning programme encourages students to explore the world around them using their eyes, hands, feet, ears, and their imagination! As part of our Outdoor and Experiential Learning Programme (OELP), children build our key mindset of Confidence by completing tasks independently and by taking responsibility for their own learning.

Classroom life is enriched with off-campus excursions a minimum of five times a year, giving children meaningful opportunities to connect their learning with the environment around them. Instruction includes regular sensory exploration and activities that are designed for experiences in a variety of outdoor settings, including those on campus and those in nearby parks and settings.

In addition to their Homeroom Teacher, every early learner at AIS has access to a full team of Specialist Teachers who are experts in their fields. Students in early childhood take art, music, drama, STEAM, physical education, Mandarin, and library classes, all led by specialists. This early exposure fosters creativity and allows students to begin to explore their talents and grow a rich sense of belonging within the school environment. 

Our Early Childhood program is more than preparation for school — it’s the start of a joyful learning journey. At AIS, we don’t go to school to get better at school, we go to school so we can do things in the world. We provide a safe, playful, and inspiring environment where young children grow confident, curious, and ready for what comes next.
