AIS Eagles Season 1 Sports Round Up
Well, what a return to Season 1 sports for our AIS Eagles after a long time away from sport for all of us! It might be the first time that all of our Season 1 teams reached the playoff championships, which is a fantastic achievement and something that our Season 1 athletes and coaches can all be very proud of.
Our U14 Girls Volleyball 🏐 team were first up, playing their finals over at SIS. The girls came up against a formidable opponent in SIS(A). In both sets, AIS started off strong and were leading by a few points. The girls had some great combination plays and a few spikes always trying for those 3 hits. After a tough fight, the Eaglets lost 2-0. However, they picked themselves up and showed great resilience going into their 3rd place playoff match vs SIS(B). The girls took home the bronze medal! 🥉 Congratulations girls!

Next up to make AIS proud were our U16 Girls Volleyball 🏐 who travelled across the harbour to play against SIS in their semi final match. The girls played hard and left everything on the court but just came up short losing both sets 2-0. Another bronze medal match and another win against South Island School as our girls won the battle for 3rd place. 🥉 Well done ladies!

Coach Lee had unfinished business with the U20 Girls Volleyball 🏐 squad as she had coached some of them to bring home gold back in 2019. The girls trained hard and had the 1-5 formation down to a fine art during their league games. They arrived at CAIS for their playoff matches in fine form and dispatched Island School 2-0 to reach the final against KGV. The girls done their coach and themselves proud with some great combinations, hits and blocks but just fell short of the win taking the silver medal! 🥈 Congratulations on another great season!

Our one and only U20 Boys Volleyball 🏐 team were drawn in a tough division this year but trained well, played hard and with true grit and determination reached a spot in the playoffs at CAIS. First up was the semi final match against volleyball powerhouse ICHK, our lads left everything on the court but just fell short in both sets. Then they paired off against CAIS, but the hosts had too much in their locker for our boys. A lot was learned this season with many playing competitive volleyball for the first time. Congratulations boys on a great season!

Our U14 Boys and Girls Football teams had the home field advantage for all of their league games this season! Our U14 Girls Football ⚽ squad started off well seeing off NAIS in a friendly game which set them up for an unprecedented undefeated season beating GSIS. A mix of experienced Grade 7s and 8s blended in with some young guns from Grade 5 and 6 made for an exciting U14 girls team, who won against GSIS, ICHK and tied against NAIS. During the playoff finals the girls fell at the final hurdle, losing out to GSIS in the final match and came away with a silver medal for their efforts. 🥈 Well done girls!

Our U14 Boys Football ⚽ had a tough season but managed to get into the playoffs and won their semi final match against ASHK on sudden death penalty kicks. Our boys then faced KCCIS in the final where they were defeated by a strong and physical KCCIS team. They still had an amazing run and we are very happy that they came away with silver medals! 🥈 Well done boys!

A massive congratulations to all of our Season 1 sports teams! It’s so great to see our student athletes back competing again! And many thanks to our amazing coaches who’ve taught and supported our students throughout an impressive season!
