AIS Class of 2026’s Vardaan Sharma Tackles University Level Physics in PolyU Research Program

Over 16 intensive weeks, AIS student Vardaan Sharma took his passion for science to new heights through the Junior Research Mentorship Programme, sponsored by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Designed for exceptional scholars, the program gave Vardaan a rare platform to immerse himself in advanced physics research.

Throughout the mentorship, Vardaan faced the challenge of understanding and applying university-grade physics concepts far beyond the standard high school curriculum. Driven by his deep commitment to the subject, he took his project a step further by teaching himself cutting-edge technical skills—developing an interactive Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) model to visualize and demonstrate his experimental work.

Conducting high-level university research while maintaining excellence in daily high school coursework requires exceptional discipline. Vardaan navigated the program’s strict requirements with focus and resilience, successfully balancing complex lab work alongside his regular academic commitments at AIS.

Vardaan’s achievement reflects both his personal drive and the strength of the AIS support system. He also wishes to give special mention to Mr. Inman, whose thoughtful counseling and dedicated guidance helped Vardaan identify, secure, and navigate the best possible research opportunity to match his academic ambitions.

Congratulations to Vardaan on completing this prestigious 16-week research journey and pushing the boundaries of high school physics!
