We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding success of our student-athletes, Grade 6’s Sou Yoshida and Grade 7’s Michael Clemmons, who helped lead the Hong Kong Bluetails to victory at the 1st Hong Kong International Youth Baseball Classic (HKYBC), held from 14–16 March 2025.
Hosted by the Baseball Association of Hong Kong, China (BAHKC), this inaugural event brought together 13 teams across the Greater Bay Area and Indonesia in both U13 and U16 divisions. Supported by the Arts and Sport Development Fund and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the tournament was created to foster regional exchange, build friendships through sport, and strengthen the culture of athletics across communities. With free admission and enthusiastic crowds, the event marked an exciting new chapter for youth baseball in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Bluetails: U13 Champions
Sou and Michael played essential roles in the Bluetails’ impressive run through the tournament. The team delivered a perfect record, earning four consecutive wins on their path to the championship title.
In the thrilling championship matchup, Sou pitched the entire game, demonstrating remarkable stamina, control, and leadership under pressure. His outstanding performance earned him the U13 Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the Hong Kong Bluetails—an incredible achievement on an international stage. Michael also contributed significantly throughout the tournament, showing consistency, teamwork, and competitive spirit that helped propel the Bluetails to their championship victory.
We are incredibly proud of Sou and Michael for representing AIS with excellence on an international stage. Their success reflects not only their athletic talent but also the values of perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship that define our school community.
