It is with a mixture of joy and bittersweet emotions that we honor Mr. Georges Raybaud on his retirement after an incredible 39 years of dedicated service at American International School. A beloved math teacher, Mr. Raybaud has not only shaped the minds of countless students but has also left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone he has encountered throughout his illustrious career.
From the moment he stepped into the classroom in 1986, Mr. Raybaud brought a unique blend of passion, enthusiasm, and expertise that inspired students to embrace the subject of mathematics with confidence and curiosity. His teaching extended far beyond the numbers and equations; he fostered a love for learning and instilled essential life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and resilience. These foundational lessons have equipped his students for success, both in academia and in life.
As difficult as it is to believe, Mr. George Raybaud is retiring from AIS after 39 wonderful years! This June marks his final year of teaching, and, while we are so pleased that he will be able to enjoy some time to himself, to travel, relax, and enjoy life, we will miss him terribly.
Initially, students often felt intimidated by Mr. Raybaud’s high expectations and profound knowledge of mathematics. However, as they experienced his unwavering support and passion for teaching, they quickly grew to love him, finding inspiration in his dedication and approachability. With patience and encouragement, he guided them through complex mathematical concepts, making even the most challenging material accessible and engaging. Many students fondly recall the extra hours he willingly dedicated to help them succeed! When alumni return to visit AIS, they always ask if Mr. Raybaud is still at the school and to see him first.
As he embarks on this next chapter of his life, we want to express our deepest gratitude for the unwavering dedication and passion Mr. Raybaud has demonstrated over the years. While AIS will feel different without his warm smile and supportive presence, his legacy will live on in the many students whose lives he has touched.
Mr. Raybaud has been a fixture at AIS since the school opened in 1986, and he has been here inspiring countless generations of students since the school opened. His legacy is one of high expectations, an unparalleled love of math, a warm sense of humor, and an unwavering dedication to his students and our school. Without a doubt, there will never be another Mr. Raybaud.

The Mr. Georges Raybaud Math Scholarship
The American International School is proud to announce the establishment of the Mr. Georges Raybaud Math Scholarship. Established in recognition of his unique contributions since the school opened in 1986, this scholarship is funded by the very people he impacted most: our alumni, faculty, and staff.
- The Prize: HK$3,500 awarded annually to a graduating student.
- Eligibility: Awarded to the student with the highest achievement in AP Calculus.
- The Criteria: Beyond just grades, winners are selected based on their work ethic, perseverance, and a genuine passion for pursuing mathematics in their post-secondary studies.
- Judging: Winners are selected each year by the Teacher of AP Calculus & the Team Lead for the Department and then recommended to the High School Principal for final approval.
Mr. Raybaud’s legacy is one of high expectations, an unparalleled love of math, and an unwavering dedication to his students. This scholarship ensures that spirit lives on.
