7 March Community Update

Dear Members of the AIS Community,

Tomorrow, 8 March, 2024, marks International Women’s Day, a day designed to raise awareness about the important role that women play around the world. Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, cousins, and friends – women play an essential role in our lives, and they deserve our gratitude and recognition for the many ways they achieve, nurture, care for, love, and support others.

This year’s theme “Inspire Inclusion” focuses on the myriad ways that women encounter discrimination in the home, in the community, and in the workplace. In many parts of the world, women are not seen as fully contributing members of society, and they do not enjoy the same rights, freedoms, and privileges as their male counterparts. Issues of job, gender, and wage parity remain critical areas that require our collective advocacy and attention. According to the World Economic Forum, for every $1.00 spent on women’s education and women’s rights, $2.80 in GDP is generated.

Ensuring that women have opportunities, support, and resources is key to making a difference and to ensuring that women take their rightful place on the world stage. Please join me in raising your voice whenever you see issues of inequity arise, and tomorrow I ask that you are especially mindful of helping to raise the voices of the women in your lives and in our community who may not be in a position to raise their own.

Together, we make a difference.

My best,
