We are thrilled to celebrate Grade 11 student Candice (Hanzhang) Tang (Class of 2025) on the acceptance and publication of her research article by Atlantis Press. Her work, “Optimization Model Performance Through Pruning Techniques” was published on 14 February 2024 in the Proceedings of the 2023 International Conference on Data Science Advanced Algorithm and Intelligent Computing (ADI 2023). Atlantis Press is renowned for publishing scientific, technical, and medical research, with millions of downloads each month.
Candice’s research focuses on Artificial Intelligence and explores methods to speed up AI training by simplifying processes to improve accuracy and efficiency. She reviewed current techniques and analyzed ways to optimize AI systems, which is especially relevant as AI continues to process increasing amounts of data in fields such as sports and health.
Her passion for AI drove her to pursue additional classes during summer vacation, which inspired this research and guided her exploration of next steps. Candice is also a member of our AP Research class, aiming to earn her AP Capstone Diploma by the end of her junior year. In that course, she is currently investigating the ethical implications of AI systems that absorb personal data, an issue with far-reaching relevance.
