1 March Family and Student Update

Dear Parents and Students,

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all students and parents for making our WASC guests feel so welcome this week. Your warmth, kindness, and friendly smiles played a key role in making our visit a success. Specific feedback will be shared after we have received their complete feedback but, in the meantime, know that your contributions are truly appreciated.

Special thanks must go to all of the students and parents who met directly with the Visiting Committee during their time here. Without exception, they were impressed by the passion, enthusiasm, and incredibly supportive feedback they heard from our school community.

Re-enrollment Letters – 2024-2025

Families should be on the lookout for re-enrollment letters that will be sent out from the office early next week. It is important that families pay attention to all tasks and timelines outlined in the letter to ensure that their place for the 2024-2025 school year is secured. There are many grades with wait lists for the upcoming school year, so it is important to secure your spot!

Congratulations!

This week, Mr. Wing and I received an email from Ms. Candice (Hanzhang) TANG, Grade 11, letting us know that a research article she has authored has been accepted and published by Atlantis Press. Her work, Optimization Model Performance Through Pruning Techniques, was published on 14 February, 2024 in the volume, Proceedings of the 2023 International Conference on Data Science Advanced Algorithm and Intelligent Computing (ADI 2023). Atlantis Press specializes in publishing scientific, technical, and medical articles, journals, and books, and their publications generate millions of downloads every month.

We are proud of Ms. Tang and of her scholarly work. On behalf of the entire AIS community, congratulations on this impressive achievement!

VPA Show – Save the Date!

Please join us on 27 March at 5:00 pm for a wonderful evening that will showcase our Intermediate students’ artistic creations in the 125 Hall. Participants will be treated to music and drama performances and will have the opportunity to view student artwork based on the work of Cindy Sherman, an American artist who has been transforming art for over four decades.

Under the talented leadership of our Visual and Performing Arts Head of Department, Ms. Lynsey Reeves, students will come together across departments to share their many talents with our AIS community. Be sure to mark the date in your calendar!

International School Fair

Our outstanding Admissions Team, Ms. Vicky Lam and Ms. Candice Ng, along with our Divisional Principals will be showcasing AIS at The Standard International School Fair this Saturday at the JW Marriott Hotel in Admiralty from 10:30 – 4:00 pm. Our very own Dr. Baumgartner will be part of a panel discussion, Fueling Young Minds: Early Childhood Learning Frontiers. We’ll be showcasing the wonderful work we do with students to prospective parents. Please be sure to share this with friends who may be interested in learning more about our school!

Parents Make The Difference

The March issues of Parents Make the Difference newsletters are here and ready to use. As always, these valuable resources serve as excellent tools to assist you in implementing practical parenting strategies and provide ideas tailored to each age and stage of your child’s educational journey.

Be sure to check out some simple science experiments you can do at home on page 2 of the elementary edition, along with the ways you can protect your child from the online risks involved with social media in the middle school edition (page 2).

I also encourage you to explore the Daily Learning Planners which offer suggestions to help promote dialogue and connection with your children you can use throughout the month.
