11.03 Family & Student Update
Dear Parents and Students,
What an amazing learning community we have at AIS!! Halloween is always fun, but this year it was truly special. Our PTA came in wearing costumes and makeup (it’s so nice to have you back!!), and they gave out candy to all of our students during each divisional lunch time. Their goal was to recreate the feel of going door-to-door to collect treats, and they did a wonderful job. It was a joy to watch the students’ faces! (And the parents too:)
Please join me in thanking our PTA Executive for their planning and coordination. They make a difference!
PTA Executive and Parent Volunteers
Our students and teachers showed incredible enthusiasm for all things Halloween too, and the costumes on display around the school were pretty spectacular!
My heartfelt thanks to the many parents and families who have made incredibly generous contributions to our Grand Prize Raffle Draw. Your gifts are truly appreciated, and the excitement these prizes generate is palpable.
We welcome additional donations, and we are currently looking for families who might operate, or know someone who operates, a restaurant or club with a liquor license who might be willing to sponsor our school for the event. If you are able to help, we would be very grateful. Please email me as soon as possible, as the fair is quickly approaching and there is an application process that we must follow. Thank you in advance for your help with making this year’s Winter Fair a success!
We are also looking for additional volunteers to help with our Indian Food Booth. Some members of the team have had to change their plans unexpectedly, so we are currently looking for additional helpers. If you’re able to assist with this wonderful team, please let Ms. Jane Lam, our PTA President, know right away by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, we are still in need of 10 turkey dinner donations for this year’s fair. The turkey booth has traditionally been a very popular station, and we are hopeful that we can offer this delightful meal once again. If you can make a contribution, please make Ms. Lam aware as soon as possible. We are truly grateful for any help you can provide!
December 11 – School Holiday
The Hong Kong government passed Regulation 82 during the 2020-2021 school year that designates the day after an election as a school holiday. Sunday, 10 December is when the next District Council elections take place, making Monday, 11 December a school holiday, and students will not come to school that day. Please be assured that our faculty has modified programming, offered extra support, and, in the case of High School, added some Saturday programming, and additional classes to ensure that they are meeting our students’ needs, particularly for our senior students who are preparing for post-secondary pathways.
