Important 10.20 Family & Student Update

Dear Parents and Students,

Congratulations AIS!

I am extremely excited and humbled to share this exciting news with you – Thanks to our outstanding faculty and staff, and of course the unwavering support of our parent community and student body, AIS is proud to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School (ADS), one year ahead of schedule! I’d also like to thank our Techsperts who really helped strengthen our ability to leverage Apple tools and technologies!

AIS was selected for this distinction based on our commitment to continuous innovation in education and using Apple products to create exemplary learning practices.

Apple Distinguished Schools are recognized as some of the most innovative in the world and we’re thrilled to be included in this special group. Considered to be centers of leadership and educational excellence, Apple Distinguished Schools have a clear vision for how technology-rich environments support learning goals. In Apple Distinguished Schools, forward-thinking leaders and their communities work to inspire, imagine, and impact teaching and learning, and they have documented results of academic accomplishments.

AIS uses iPad and Mac devices to transform learning every day. As you know, our teachers incorporate technology into their lessons and empower our students to lead, learn, and discover new opportunities to share their learning with their teachers, each other, and the wider world. Our goal is to inspire our students and staff to make the world a better place!

Apple Learning Coaches

I am also extremely proud to announce that Ms. Kathy Abel, our Director of Learning Innovation, Mr. Matt Wise, our Director of Educational Technology, and Ms. Jeremy Green, our Learning Activator, are now officially Apple Learning Coaches. These outstanding educators were the first of a select team of educators to be invited to participate in this exclusive training that was only offered in Hong Kong for the first time this summer.

We are fortunate to have their expertise, passion, energy, and commitment in our learning community. The specialized support they offer our school will definitely deepen our shared practice and take us to the next level of implementation.

Call for a PTA Executive Member & Volunteers

Recently, one of our PTA Executive Committee Members had to step down unexpectedly, due to a work promotion (congratulations!!), so we are currently looking for a new General Executive member to take her place. If you, or someone you know, might be able to join the PTA Executive Committee, please reach out to me or to our wonderful PTA President, Ms. Jane Lam at 9156-3103. Our PTA makes an incredible difference to our school, and participating is a terrific opportunity to meet other parents and be a part of the AIS community. If you have questions, please reach out and we would be happy to chat.

Don’t forget that Halloween is coming and you could help give out candy, decorate the campus, and dress up to show school spirit, and of course there is always the Winter Fair!

Wonderful Winter Fair!

I hope you had a chance to read my Winter Fair email that was sent on Wednesday, 18 October. We’re still looking for volunteers for many important tasks at the fair, and we can really use your help. Please take a moment to review the message to see how your participation can make a difference for our students. Having many volunteers available to help will allow parents to be able to watch their children perform, to enjoy some of the delicious food that will be available, and to help at food stalls, prize booths, and so much more. You’ll be glad you did!

We also welcome donations for the Grand Prize Raffle Draw and look forward to your generosity and support!

Thanks for all you do to make our school the wonderful place it is. Have a wonderful long weekend ahead.

My best,

Anita Simpson
Head of School
