04.14 Family & Student Update

Dear Families and Students,

It’s been an exciting first week back on campus after the Spring Break with a lot of energy and excitement bubbling up everywhere. Seeing our students and faculty back on campus is always joyful!

Inclement Weather Dismissal Form

The time of year has now arrived when the weather changes and the rainy season brings frequent showers, typhoons, and other inclement weather.

Although we often get advance notice of typhoons, from the Hong Kong Government, Education Bureau, and My Observatory, there are occasions when weather conditions accelerate very quickly. Red and Black Rain is also somewhat unpredictable and severe storms can develop without warning. To complicate matters further, adverse weather can be quite different from one area of the city to another.

As a result, we would like to plan ahead and proactively enter your dismissal preferences for your student(s) so that when issues of inclement weather arise, we all know what to do in advance. Please complete THIS FORM by Friday, 21 April, and we will ensure that your preferences are recorded in PowerSchool. We will then use this information for dismissal purposes in the case of inclement weather.

Your attention to this important task is greatly appreciated.

Apple Distinguished School Nomination

I am thrilled to announce that this morning I received notification that we have been officially invited to apply for recognition to become an Apple Distinguished School. This achievement was unexpected and is due to all of the hard work our faculty, students, and the Apple Distinguished School Team have done this year to leverage our new learning tools. Their innovation, creativity, and willingness to explore and take risks have created the conditions for this special opportunity, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks for everyone’s ongoing dedication and effort. What’s especially noteworthy is that this invitation is being extended a year earlier than we had anticipated, and that is true testimony to the incredible achievement this represents.

Special thanks go out to Mr. Levent Erdogan our Apple Distinguished School Lead and to Abby Luk and Leighton Chu in Grade 5 who were incredibly powerful presenters on our team! My sincere thanks once again to everyone involved!

H2OPE Centre

Grade 5 students immediately headed off on a field trip to the H2OPE Centre, a Hong Kong Museum situated near the New Territories West Regional Water Supplies Department to learn about the critical role that water plays in sustaining life on this planet. Enjoy these photos of our students on their field trip!
