03.10 Family & Student Update

Dear Parents, Students, Faculty, and Staff,

It has been another busy time at American International School with so many wonderful events and activities taking place! Professor Paws was in, we hosted a university visit, we held family webinars, and we participated in U20 Girls Football, U14 and U20 Girls Badminton, and U14 Boys Badminton, as well as Junior and Senior Track and Field, just to name a few of the exciting events at AIS of late!

We are very proud of all of our students, especially our U12 and U20 Track and Field athletes for, taking 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th place in the U20 800 metre race, 2nd place in the U12 800 metre event, and 1st and 2nd place in the U12 100 metre race – GO EAGLES!!!

Confidence

On Wednesday, 8 March, I met with a group of student leaders from Elementary and Middle School to gather feedback on our Future Framework’s key mindset, Confidence. Our students provided some excellent ideas and suggestions and offered insightful feedback about the many ways we grow confidence at AIS. I look forward to speaking with more students during the afternoon of 15 March as well as with parents at our upcoming PTA meeting on Wednesday, 15 March at 3:15. Please consider joining us to share your experience!

PTA Volunteer Luncheon

Our fabulous PTA hosted an outstanding luncheon on Wednesday, 8 March at Festival Walk that was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The annual PTA luncheon has not been held since 2019, and it was clear from the energy and enthusiasm that our parent volunteer community is delighted to be able to come together again and celebrate the wonderful work they do.

Special thanks go out to our PTA Executive Committee: Bonnie Chun, President; Grace Chen & Lisa Li, Co-Presidents; Sophie Koh, Treasurer; and, Gloria Chau, Sourcing Executive. Together, they have worked hard all year to make special opportunities for our students, parents, and faculty come to life. The event was well attended and we thank everyone who made time in their busy schedules to come out.

FEARLESS!

Be sure to attend FEARLESS, our Visual and Performing Arts event next Friday, 17 March from 5:00 – 7:30 pm. I am thrilled that our outstanding High School Art, Drama, and Music Programs have combined forces to showcase our students‘ incredible creativity and talent. A total of 28 Drama, 17 AP Art, and 22 Music students have joined forces to make this production a reality. You don’t want to miss it!

Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

My best,

Anita Simpson
