Congratulations to our Girls U14 Basketball Team who made AIS history by taking 1st place and winning the Silver Division Championship!! Massive thanks to their coach Mr. Phong Nguyen for his excellent preparation and encouragement.
Basketball is a game of momentum and runs. And in this championship game against Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), it was very apparent.
Our girls started out quickly from the jump with our signature Diamond Press, which got their opponents flustered and turning the ball over for easy buckets. We kept the pressure going into the first half and built a solid 8-point lead.
Good teams always respond, and in the third quarter, CAIS began to find ways to get past our traps. The scoring went back and forth as both teams battled hard.
In the fourth quarter, we started to feel a little too comfortable and made some defensive mistakes that allowed them to score. Our shots stopped falling, and with their home crowd cheering loudly, the momentum began to shift in their favor. CAIS went on an 8–0 run to snatch their first lead of the game, 23–22! The gym erupted as the home crowd went into a frenzy.
We called a timeout with 2:30 left to play—just enough time to settle the team’s frustration and remind them that there was still plenty of time left. They knew what they needed to do: play their dominant defense to create scoring opportunities.
With confidence and fortitude, they went back on the court and executed perfectly. The team closed out the game with 4 unanswered points to reclaim the lead and secure the win—and with it, the Silver Division Championship!

Our PE Department and AIS coaches have done an outstanding job of breaking records and reaching new heights this year. Our student-athletes are quickly reestablishing our presence as formidable opponents in the Hong Kong athletic community. Go EAGLES!!!
