02.10 Family & Student Update
Dear Families and Students,
One of the many joys of being a Head of School comes with watching students grow and develop. As parents, you best know how quickly children grow and change – as educators, we share in that journey. Along with the obvious developmental changes in height and clothing sizes (my goodness, our Grade 8s are getting so tall!), we also witness key personality and character development. It is a real privilege to see the social and emotional development that occurs as a result of the learning experiences our faculty design for their students. This week, I am sharing an important lesson about student Confidence.
Confidence
At AIS, we place a premium on fostering Confidence in all of our students. In fact, it is the key mindset of our Future Framework. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be talking to students, staff, faculty, and parents about the many ways we develop this important competency. We will host focus groups, send out surveys, facilitate lessons designed to grow confidence, and make a range of opportunities available to our learning community to learn more about how we can develop this important life skill.
If you’re interested in sharing your thoughts about confidence, I’ll be hosting Parent and Student Focus Groups during the month of March, accompanied by our Learning Activator, Mr. Jeremy Green. To learn more or to participate in a focus group, just follow these links:
It’s my pleasure to highlight a recent lesson facilitated by our Grade 3 Teachers that focussed on building student Confidence through intentional work on affirmations. Below are some images from Mr. Elliott Zelinskas’ class.
