10.29 Family & Student Update

Dear Parents, Students and Families,

What an amazing week we just had! SO many wonderful learning experiences took place, and I know that our students appreciated all of the hard work and preparation that went into making these special experiences available. Here are just a few!

  • Grade 4 students participated in SPA Passion Projects;
  • Middle School students were actively involved in the House Cup Festival;
  • High School students participated in the Maia Learning Virtual University Fair;
  • PSAT was written;
  • Pumpkins and candy went out;
  • PTA was here to decorate campus, and,
  • We dressed in Halloween costumes for our Charitable Free Dress Day!

My heartfelt thanks goes out to all AIS parents and families. So many of you clearly went out of your way to make sure your children had something special to wear for our Charitable Free Dress Day. My sincere gratitude goes out to our amazing faculty for putting together these joyful events and for dressing up today! Special thanks to Ms. Bumpus, Ms. Abel, Mr. Lennan, Mr. Rivera, Mr. Wise, Ms. Van Luk, Ms. Lee, Ms. Suarez, Ms. Smith, Ms. Machnicki, Mr. Post, Mr. Baumgartner, Ms. Morrison, and Mr. Wing for all of their behind the scenes preparation that made things run like clockwork this week and of course to all of our faculty and staff for making the week so memorable.

I was especially impressed with the pumpkin carving shown in the first photo below. Not only did this student and his family take the time to carve the pumpkins that went home courtesy of PTA, but how sweet it was of him to bring it back to school today to show others!!

Winter Fair

Our first Winter Fair prize donations arrived today! We are incredibly grateful to Grade 11 student Haotian (Tony) Lan and his family for their generous gift of 2 iPad Pros for our upcoming raffle draw on Friday, 10 December during our first ever livestream event!! Please contact Ms. Vicky Lam, our wonderful Director of Admissions and Advancement at vlam@ais.edu.hk if you have questions. You can also drop off your Winter Fair raffle prize donations at the AIS Main Office at any time during office hours. We appreciate your generosity and are very excited for our Winter Fair!!

Diwali

Next Thursday, 4 November, marks Diwali, India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year. Also known as the festival of lights, Diwali is celebrated around the globe in commemoration of the completion of the summer harvest and the beginning of the new moon, traditionally the darkest night of the Hindu calendar. We wish all of our AIS families celebrating next week a wonderful holiday filled with light, love, laughter, family and friends!

I wish you all a wonderful weekend ahead. Happy Halloween!

My best,

Anita Simpson
Head of School
