Dear members of the AIS community,
I am pleased to inform you that after a comprehensive and extensive search process, a formal offer to become the next Head of School at AIS has been made, and accepted. Anita Simpson will join AIS on 1 August 2019, assuming the role of Head of School on an initial 3-year contract.
Anita was a standout candidate throughout the entire search process. Our conversations during the initial interview stage were engaging, rich and illuminating. Anita is a proven educational leader, award-winning innovator, and experienced international educator. She has worked extensively in international education with the renowned Dr. Michael Fullan as the Canadian Cluster Leader for New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL), a global learning lab that involved students and teachers in seven countries around the world including Finland, Uruguay, The Netherlands, USA, Australia, and New Zealand. During her recent school visit, Anita met with all stakeholder groups, including students from across the school. Anita impressed everyone with her passion for teaching and learning. She exuded the confidence of an experienced educational leader and left parents and teachers feeling excited and inspired by her vision for AIS. Anita Simpson is simply an outstanding choice for the next Head of School.
In the months ahead I will be working closely with Anita as we prepare to welcome her to Hong Kong. I am looking forward to sharing our school’s story and helping Anita understand more about the work we do now, as well as the ambitious vision we are setting for the future. In the meantime, I want to thank the AIS parents who volunteered their time to participate in the candidate review panel, as well as the teachers and students from across the school who met with our two finalists on their recent school visits. Both candidates left AIS deeply impressed by the strength of the community here. I am very grateful to everyone who assisted throughout this process. Your counsel, your insights and your comments were incredibly valuable to the decision-making process. As a community, we can now look forward with great excitement to the next stage of our school’s journey.
Mr. Cameron Fox
Head of School
