Ronald Lo '97 and Teddy Lo '93
“It was great to be back and see the campus developments and teachers, it made me reminisce about my senior days 17 years ago. It was quite surreal.”
–Teddy Lo ‘93

Teddy and Ronald visited AIS for the first time since graduating more than 13 years ago. Teddy graduated from California International School (the forerunner of AIS) in 1993 and Ronald, his brother, graduated from AIS in 1997. They reconnected with us in October 2009 through our new alumni portal. Ronald recently had his honeymoon in the Maldives after getting married at the end of last year. “I was so pleasantly surprised that AIS kept in touch with me after so many years”, said Ronald as he was going through his old yearbook in our Development Office. “I still remember I used to be in the CIS basketball

team, and won second place in the singing contest in Grade 12!”.

"I was the DJ at school dances!” said Teddy when he visited the little “DJ” room which still remains in the hall today.

Many changes have occurred at the school since they left. The old high school building now houses the middle school and their old basketball court is now the swimming pool. However, the one thing that has not changed, as pointed out by Teddy, is that, “I still use the same mathematics, like trigonometry, that Mr Raybaud taught me in his Advanced Calculus class!”

After leaving AIS, Ronald pursued a degree in marketing in the States, while Teddy studied advertising design in the States and then finished a master's degree in lighting from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia. Over the years, both brothers developed a deep passion for entrepreneurship and the LED lighting industry due to their family affiliation. “My father is one of the earliest persons to build a LED manufacturing plant in China. I still remember he used to talk about business ideas at the dining table,” said Teddy. “At that time we didn’t know he was planting little entrepreneurial seeds in our heads. Our father is a very creative person,” the brothers recalled proudly.

Teddy Lo was named "Who's Who" by the
Lighting Magazine in 2004.

Today, both brothers head their own businesses in Asia and the States. Ronald leads an innovative ECO lifestyle store in Hong Kong and a large LED advertising display rental business which enjoys big clients such as world class concerts and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Teddy leads a visionary creative lighting design company with offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and New York. His company  designed creative lighting solutions for industries such as luxury yacht and casino hotel.  They have recently received Second Place Award from Shanghai Illuminating Engineering Society for their LED design at the Tibet Pavilion in the 2010 Shanghai Expo. Both brothers work with staff members and clients that hail from around the world. They believe their education at AIS, one of the earliest international schools in Hong Kong, has proved to be to be great asset to their successes today. “We still keep in touch and visit our friends from AIS. They are living everywhere now,” said both brothers, “let us know any way we can help with future alumni events and the AIS 25th anniversary celebrations!”
