Awards & Recognitions
The following awards are given to outstanding high school students at the American International School at the end of each academic year. Click on the award titles below to view their descriptions and critieria, or the links to view the awardee lists.
The Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs) Awards are presented to outstanding individuals who embrace the qualities of a global citizen, an effective communicator, an empowered thinker and a well-rounded individual. The awards are unanimously nominated by the faculty. One winner is selected from each homeroom for each of the ESLRs at the end of every academic year.
AP Scholar Awards are granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
AP Scholar with Honor Awards are granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
AP Scholar with Distinction Awards are granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
AP International Diploma (APID) is a globally recognized certificate for students with an international outlook and display exceptional achievement on AP Exams across several disciplines.
The AmCham Charitable Foundation Prize Book Award is established by the American Chamber of Commerce in 1986. A prize book and check for HK$1,000 is presented to each awarded student in the next to graduating class who combine excellence in scholarship with achievements in community service, leadership, and other related fields.
The East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) Global Citizenship Award is presented to a student who embraces the qualities of a global citizen. He/she is a proud representative of his/her nation while respectful of the diversity of other nations, has an open mind, is well informed, aware and empathetic, concerned and caring for others, enourages a sense of community, and is strongly committed to engagement and action to make the world a better place. Finally, this student is able to interact and communicate effectively with people from all walks of life while having a sense of collective responsibility for all who inhabit the globe. The student receives an engraved plaque with the their name, a travel wallet, and a certificate issued by the EARCOS.
