"African Rhythms: A Journey Through America" School Concert & Free Dress Fundraiser on 24 February

Introduction
In recognition of African-American History Month, the AIS high school community will present African Rhythms: A Journey through America, a concert produced by Mr. Jason Bennett our high school Music teacher. This cross-curricular endeavor will offer a glimpse into how sub-Saharan African cultures and the hardships of slavery have influenced 20th century American music. This interactive concert will feature live performances, dance, demonstrations, and presentations from various departments. Among other things, we will have a 50 piece African dancing group, African drummers, jazz, rock, funk, and pop music.

Fund Raising for Youth Alive Ghana Charity
A major consideration in staging this special concert was the opportunity to raise funds for the Youth Alive Ghana charity. This organization supports vulnerable children in northern Ghana with opportunities to build better futures through education and vocational training. Further information about this charity can be found by clicking on the following link: http://www.youthaliveghana.org/index.htm.

In supporting this charity, half the proceeds from the ticket revenue will be donated to Youth Alive Ghana. A special schoolwide Free Dress Day will also be held on Friday, 24 February with all the money raised to be donated to this charity.

Refreshments
The AIS-PTA has kindly offered to sponsor refreshments available to all guests from 6.00pm. Please bring along your friends and join us for a very special event.
Thank you.
