The American International School hosted its High School Graduation Ceremony at the Hong Kong Jockey Club in Shatin on Friday, 24 June 2011. This annual event, which is one of the year’s highlights, brings together students, faculty, alumni, families and friends to acknowledge and celebrate the successes and achievements of the senior class.
With the school celebrating its 25th anniversary, there was added significance for the students in this year’s senior class. This was the biggest ever cohort, with 70 highly talented young men and women receiving their high school diplomas from Head of School, Mr. Cameron Fox. The ceremony included speeches from high school counselor, Mr. Tim Gartz, and Mr. Fox, as well as this year’s Valedictorian Kody Law and President of the Student Council, John Li. The sense of occasion was enhanced further with a beautiful musical interlude performed by a flute ensemble consisting of four members of this year’s senior class: Hee Jo Han, Canary Law, Da Hee Nam and Cheryl Yeung.
The Class of 2011 was distinguished by many truly outstanding students. Mabel Fung, In-Cheol Kim and Terry Kwan received the annual PTA Awards in recognition of their highest GPA and excellent academic achievements. Steven Chen, Farrah Ng, Terry Kwan and Nina Yim received the School Service Awards in honor of their commitment to the school and completing their entire elementary, middle and high school education at AIS.
