Over the past few years AIS has started strengthening student learning by adopting the framework of Understanding by Design or UbD (Wiggins, McTighe, 20011). In this educational planning system the emphasis is on students understanding knowledge in depth and applying what they know. Many American and international schools worldwide have successfully implemented UbD in their curriculum. AIS teachers Mr Marlon Ng, Mrs Katherine Hillam and Mr Jamie Hardisty have completed a training course instructed by Jay McTighe at the Singapore American School during these past two years. This training will help AIS staff enhance whole school teaching and learning.
