Spirits were exuberant as the whole American International School worked together to create an unforgettable evening of fun and entertainment at the school’s annual Cultural Fair held on Friday, 25 November 2011.
The fair kicked-off with a team of students performing a fantastic dragon
dance around the school. Mr. Fox, our Head of School and Mrs. Becky Lau, our
PTA President ceremoniously painted the eyes of the dragon to bring it to life.
Our student performances were very well-received, with several standing
ovations from the audience. Highlights included a cultural fashion show, a
selection of cultural songs performed beautifully by various grade level
choirs. Musical performances by band classes, as well our teacher’s band
really got the crowd going.
Students from across the school set up individual games-booths and stalls to
raise money for the Parent Teacher Association. With exotic home-made
international cuisine from India,
Korea, Japan and the Philippines, along with the
ever-popular Chinese food, many experienced new and wonderful dishes, freshly
prepared and served by our dedicated parent volunteers. Our lucky draw prizes
were also the greatest including prizes such as a wide selection of high-end electronic
computer items and a special wine draw.
Over $279,000 was raised at the Cultural Fair for our PTA to use in
supporting the educational programs at our school. Thank you very much to all
our parents, sponsors, students and faculty for all of your wonderful support.
