Well-Rounded Individual Awards 2011-12

Mathew Tang

Mathew Tang (Grade 12) - this "Man Behind the Camera" is a star performer and a most deserving recipient. With selfless determination to make everyone else’s experience in our AIS Journey this year more enjoyable and memorable, it’s only fitting to proudly honor him with this award. Mathew has achieved academically as he has carried out so many outstanding roles in our school events from leadership positions in Senior Project, Prom Committee President, Concert Band Section Leader and Yearbook Club Photography to other personal interests in sports with volleyball and badminton. Consistently at the center of this year’s greatest and most enjoyable events, Mathew has shown the way as a shining example in living life to its best! We wish him continued success as a trailblazer as he continues his dream of becoming an aviation pilot!

Chester Liang

Chester Liang (Grade 11) is best known for his athletic prowess. Yet, this year, he has taken a challenge to be more involved in student life and has thus been highly rewarded. In Cambodia this year, he volunteered at a local orphanage and showed a great heart for humanity with the children who lived there. He later played the lead in the Diary of Anne Frank showing further his compassionate side in a stirring performance that lifted the audience. He is known as a responsible and most friendly member of his class and also surprisingly a good guitar player. Chester will continue his athletics pursues this summer through rigorous lifeguard training. As Captain of our Swim Team and a fine friend to all especially those on his athletic teams, it is a privilege to award this Grade 11 Well-Rounded Individual Award to Chester Liang.

Eric Wen

Eric Wen (Grade 10) has taken on the challenge to engage in a rigorous academic program at Stanford University this summer, which shows his personal commitment to improve after earning a place on the Principal’s Honor Roll this year. Eric’s contributions came this year in serving in the Model United Nations club, as a key organizer of the AIS Blood Drive partnering with the Red Cross, and as a valued member of the AIS Soccer Team. As a most talented team-player, Eric is to be commended for demonstrating the values of self-improvement, being a quality friend and sportsman at AIS.

Vanessa Tang

Vanessa Tang (Grade 9) has had a wonderful start to High School at AIS. She has earned Principal's Honor Roll and over fifty hours of community service. She has demonstrated great awareness to community service through her involvement in various activities including the Kiss My Earth Club and Under 16 Volleyball. She has scored perfectly in both Algebra II and Social Studies classes. Vanessa's outstanding debate skills helped lead her team on to winning the Grade 9 Debates. As a kind, conscientious and determined student who cares, we congratulate Vanessa on this outstanding accomplishment.
