Effective Communicator Awards 2011-12    

Henry Chan

Henry Chan (Grade 12) is known as being quick on his feet, having an ability to quickly analyze and effectively challenge others in debate. He has skillfully led our school debate team and his homeroom to success including winning the coveted All School Debate Championship. Greatly appreciated, is his remarkable integrity, honesty and character as he has achieved prominence as a proud member of the Hong Kong Boy Scouts Association. As a leader, he has been an Athletic Council Representative and Debate Club Captain as well as ensuring that many of our events were an all-time hit including: African Rhythms Concert (Drummer), Cross Country, High School Prom and High School Production: The Diary of Anne Frank.

    

Sheng Casado

Sheng Casado (Grade 11) has had an outstanding year. He was a memorable and vocal leader during Sports Day as he helped Phoenix take first place. He also rallied fellow classmates to participate and succeed expectations in this year’s Model United Nations Conferences. Notwithstanding, his energetic communication and fine negotiation skills were found effectively portrayed in diverse locations such as the basketball court and in meetings as Secretary of Student Council. With great compassion, he demonstrates these skills and assistance as a most valuable Peer Tutoring Coordinator. It is a joy to have this very kind, responsible and motivated student on campus, a valuable friend and advocate as well as winner of this year’s Grade 11 Effective Communicator Award - Sheng Casado.

    

Kelly Kim

Kelly Kim (Grade 10) has achieved wonderful results both inside and outside the classroom. Earning a place on our Principal’s Honor Roll this year with three honors courses is just a start. She has shown an abundance of talent in a variety of areas including the African Rhythms Concert and Community Service Club completing fifty hours, as well as in Concert Band, Debate Club, Model United Nations and Human Rights Clubs. In each of these, she has been a valiant and most reliable participant making the year a success for all those around her. As an effective communicator, Kelly demonstrates a commitment to social welfare and is a caring and fine friend to all. 

    

Ruby Kim

Dedication to academic growth and compassionate leadership has served as the highlight of Ruby Kim (Grade 9)'s glowing contributions to AIS this year. She has merited a near perfect 3.9 G.P.A. and nearly seventy-five hours of community service. As a member of the Student Council, she has inspired and impressed her classmates and teachers by her creativity and refreshing insights in inter-house competitions such as the All School Debate where she was a team leader. Her heart for humanity and concern for others has often been felt with prominence success in the Tzu Chi Foundation Recycling and Human Rights clubs. It is an honor to recognize Ruby Kim for her outstanding merit, her quality contributions and her worth as a model American International School Student.
